The largest manmade water source in North Carolina is Lake Norman, created between 1959 and 1964 as an addition to the Cowans Ford Dam by Duke Energy. The lake's surface area covers fifty square miles and 520 miles of shore length; the lake sits 760 feet above sea level. The Catawba River feeds into Lake Norman, and Norman drains into the Mountain Island Lake. Being apart of the dam means the waterway provides electricity and supplies water to neighboring areas like Lincoln, Catawba, Iredell Counties, Mooresville, Charlotte, Cornelius, Davidson, and Huntersville. Norman Atwater Cocke, former Duke Energy President, is the namesake of the grand lake with stunning properties.
Homeowners are one with nature on the lake coexisting with wildlife such as eastern box turtles, softshell turtles, snapping turtles, black eastern rat sakes, and northern water snakes. Residents visiting the Lake Norman State Park are granted access to two fishing boat areas where they have the chance to catch crappie, catfish, bluegill, yellow perch, largemouth white bass hybrids, and freshwater gar among others. Eight other public boating areas are accessible as well as memberships to two yacht clubs, the Penninsula Club and the Laken Club. Lake Norman is a stop on the Jet Sport Boat Association Tour. Residents on Lake Norman have the pleasurable opportunity to enjoy waterfront dining with either the North Harbor Club or at Eddies Raw Bar. The homeowners that line the horizon of Lake Norman live in paradise, spending their days lounging by the water, participating in active neighborly get-togethers, or spending sacred time with family and friends on the water that will be remembered forever.
Lake Norman spans several areas in North Carolina providing tons of potential homes for sale to the buyer. Houses, condominiums, and townhomes, lots, and luxury homes in Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, Mooresville, Denver, and Charlotte are all areas in which owners will have access to the grand lake.
